More Meme

September 25, 2008

I was sort of tagged by Muse…   Click here for some really thought-provoking answers to a few interesting questions.

The rules of the game:

RULE #1 : People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves.

RULE #2 :  Tag 6 people to do this quiz and they cannot refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by and cannot tag the person whom they were tagged by continue this game by sending it to other people.

1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?   My heart would stop.

2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?  I so love MusEdition’s answer to this and I want to adopt it as my own:  “I dream my life into existence daily. Therefore it always comes true!”
3. Whose butt would you like to kick?
None.
4. What would you do with a billion dollars?
Oh the usual, sell the house and buy a yacht to live on.  Buy real estate in various places.  Travel the world.   Hire a personal trainer/physician to help me discover my most fit body.  Set up the ideal retirement options for both sets of parents PER their wishes, of course.  Invest for the N&N’s college (N&N = Nieces and Nephews), start a foundation to decide how best to give most of it away and probably blow some of it on jewelry, clothes and shoes and art.   )    But since I wouldn’t have much room on my yacht for art (I’m not talking about a big yacht), I would donate/support art museums anonymously and buy memberships in all of them.    I’d have to save a few libraries, too.   oh, goodness – I keep thinking of stuff!
5. Will you fall in love with your best friend?
Already did.  I guess I can keep doing it, no reason this has to be past tense.
6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
Yes.
7. How long do you intend to wait for someone you really love?
Don’t have to.   Besides, love isn’t an event; love is an action verb – no waiting required.
8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
N/A
9. If you like to act with someone, who will it be? your gf/bf or an actress/actor?
Huh?
10. What takes you down the fastest?
A careless mistake.
11. How would you see yourself in ten years time?
Happy.
12. What’s your fear?
Allowing the fear itself.
13. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Inspiring, fascinating, inquisitive, compassionate, talented, well-spoken/written, fun, quirky, independent.
14. Would you rather be single and rich or married but poor?
Neither.
15. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Check the clock.
16. Would you give all in a relationship?
Sure.
17. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously, who would you pick?
This question doesn’t fit my framework of how I believe what love is.
18. Would you forgive and forget no matter how horrible a thing the someone has done?
Ah, it depends.
19. Do you prefer being single or having a relationship?
I prefer my life today.
20. List 6 people to tag
nah, do if you want.

Meme From TVB

September 24, 2008

Meme’d from http://tvbblog.com/2008/09/19/tag-youve-been-memed/  (I’m too lazy to fix the link… sigh)

Were you named after anyone?
Yes.    My great grandmother.   However, she was called a nickname and that’s what my name is, but when she died, everyone found out what her REAL name was!    Even weirder – they carved the nickname on her gravestone so I’m really not sure if this is a true story or not.   But I like her REAL name better and as a kid, tried to get everyone to call me by that  name.   It never stuck.

Single or Married?
Married.  Will celebrate 20 years this November.

Do you like your own handwriting?
Sometimes, when I’m careful, it looks OK.    But when sloppy, it slants every which way and is consistently inconsistent.    An analyst might say that I’m ‘untrustworthy.’

What is your favorite lunch meat?
Roast Beef.

Do you have children?
Nope.    Well, not that I’ve birthed.   But I count many of my N&Ns as ‘my children’ and spoil them often with packages in the mail.    And my bff’s kids are considered my N&N’s cuz they don’t have many ‘real’ family members, if you know what I mean…

If you were another person, would you be friends with you?
Yes, I think I would be a heck of a lot of fun to hang out with.    I’m always up for adventures and it would be great not to go alone to all the fun things I want to do but can never find anyone to go with me.

Do you use sarcasm alot?
Yep, and usually at the worst times.

Do you still have your tonsils?
Yes.

Would you bungee jump?
Depends.   I would like to say I would but…    I really don’t like heights.

What is your favorite cereal?
Lucky Charms.  Just like teeveebee!   But I ate Cheerios this morning.  I never buy Lucky Charms.

Do you untie your shoes before you take them off?
Yes, I think I tie my shoes too tight.  I have to untie to take them off.

Do you think you are strong?
Strong physically or strong personality or strong in a crisis?   nah.

What is your favorite flavor of ice-cream?
Dove Dark Chocolate.   I’d link to a post I did on this once but, again, I’m in a hurry this morning and too lazy.   You can search for it if you want.   It’s a post that gets a few hits still.

What is the first thing you notice about people?
If they have a sense of humor.

Red or pink?
PINK!

Fruit or Veggie?
Veggies.

Who do you miss the most?
Strange question.   I wish I could see my bff a bit more.   She lives far away and is incredibly busy bizzy busy.

What color shoes are you wearing?
I’m not wearing shoes at the moment.

What is the last thing you ate?
Cheerios, skim milk, banana.

What are you listening to now?
The hum of this here PC.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Probably something in the purple family.

Favorite Smells?
Too many things have listed in my head to pick one.    But let’s say…    Freshly baked Raspberry Berry Pie.

Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
My hub.

Favorite Sports?
Probably football.   But I’d rather see a live baseball game than a live football game.

Hair color?
I have dark brown hair with a few wiry stubborn whites sticking out of my part.   I colored to a warm brown wash but it’s fading.

Eye color?
Blue.

Do you wear contacts?
No.  I have to use reading glasses, though and IT PISSES ME OFF!

What is your favorite food?
I just love good food.    Last Friday, we went to a Thai restaurant and I ordered Massamon (I think that’s the spelling) Curry and it was HEAVEN.     oh, so good.   One of the dishes that I will have to order again which will make me mad because the whole menu looks terrific and I will be scared to NOT get the one I know I like but will want to try something else and I’ll be in quite the conundrum.    I recommend the Thai Spice KETTLE brand potato chips if you ever see them – WOW!!!!    I had to go back to Ocean State Job Lots and buy 3 more bags cuz…  WOW!!!

Scary movie or happy ending?
I hate scary movies.   Give me intelligent humor and drama and occasionally a silly one.   Plus romantic comedies.   I just watched While You Were Sleeping for the umpteenth time 2 nights ago and saw Burn After Reading last night.     (which was good?  but not as good as I had hoped, but still good, ya know?   Gotta love the Coen Brothers.)

What was the last movie you watched?
Um, see prior question.

What color shirt are you wearing?
I’m wearing a black Middleboro Hockey hoodie.

Summer or winter?
Summer.

Hugs or kisses?
Hugs (but kisses with the sweetie, of course…   especially on the back of my neck.)

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Sparks.

The Dell logo.

A bit of the weather channel and then XM’s Flight 26.   I guess that is ‘listen to on TV’.

Favorite sound?
The first glug, glug, glug of a newly opened bottle of wine.

Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles.

Where is the farthest you’ve been from home?
When I went to Alaska and had to leave my hub at home.    Home is where my heart is?   That’s the farthest distance I’ve spent a night away from the man.

Do you have a special talent?
I can tie my shoes faster than you can.   Unless you’re the girl who taught me how to do that, I suppose.

Where were you born?
3K Illinois.

Which is your favorite chipmunk?
Don’t have one.

Do you like to cook or bake?
Depends.    I like to bake pies.  and prefer my hub to cook.

Bucket List Meme

August 12, 2008

Teeni has yelled TAG!!!!  YOU’RE IT!!!  once again and so I’m jumping to it…   It’s the Bucket List Meme and the idea is to list at least 8 things I gotta do or want to do or WILL DO? before I kick that bucket.

I actually have a list somewhere but I’ve misplaced it.   I think it still exists somewhere in my crap but looking for it will distract me – I will end up organizing all my papers and scrapbooks and start reminiscing and who knows when I’ll wake the hell back up to remember I have a blog post to finish!

I wrote it in college after reading that goals WRITTEN DOWN have a much better chance of happening. So from memory:

1. Go to Europe. Got this one done in 2000.

2.  Make a quilt.    Still fixin’ to think about getting started to attempt to learn to sew…

3.  Pet a baby seal.   I realize these cute little fellows are on the endangered list but maybe a zoo will let me do this.

Well.   That’s all I got from THAT list.   Let’s keep going with my here&now.

4. Finish Wilhelmina!    to meet her, click here.

or here since I’m being told the link above doesn’t work… https://ideajump.wordpress.com/2008/03/27/meet-wilhelmina/

(perhaps one of my bucket list points should be to upgrade my PC so this isn’t so difficult…)

5.  Spend at least 2 weeks aboard some kind of watercraft – just me and the Hub.  (and the DOG!!!)  It’s a dream that I keep thinking we can break down into “Shouldn’t We Just Try It For a Little Short Piece Of Time Before We Buy One?”     I keep wondering what would happen if I posted an ad “Naive Couple Hoping To Someday Own A Big Boat Seeks Fun-Loving Couple with Yacht to Host Weekend Excursion Offering Beginnings of Beautiful Friendship.”        This is who would respond, of course:

6.   Visit every state!   I need Hawaii.    I have been to a few states that might need a re-visit.   My only time in New Jersey was a 2 hour layover in Newark Airport.   And I can’t remember if Mississippi got much of my attention, if any? so we need to explore that fine state.     and believe it or not?!   Vermont deserves more of my time, too.   It’s so close, I could probably do that one day when I’m bored!    But, I’m never bored….   Hey Teeni?  road trip?   I’ll pick you up and we can go have lunch in VT?

7.  Ugh.   I can’t think of any more.    I mean, I can – I’ve got lots of silly stuff popping into my head but nothing that has that burning desire of inspiration.   I almost typed up ‘Climb Mt. Sunflower’ but, really, that is laughable.   It’s just one of those places in Kansas (highest elevation in Kansas) that makes me smile so maybe I should do it someday.   I think we have even driven by the road you have to take to find Mt Sunflower but Hub kept going…   He’s not much of a stop-at-roadside-attraction kind of guy, especially or because of the fact that I frequent yell:  “stop!  a roadside attraction!!”  But, really, there are tons of things I’d love to do ‘someday’ but nothing is catching my attention in the gumball machine that is my brain today.

8.    I hope to attend all the weddings (or whatever the kids will call these in the future – I don’t care if they get married or to whom, but I’m not invited to some kind of party by their age of 30, they will have to host me for a fun weekend.) of my nieces and nephews including all the little kids I call nieces and nephews who aren’t blood relatives.     SInce some of these critters were born in 2008, this should count as my longevity goal…

9.   Right NOW, this second, here’s the places of the world I want to see/visit/experience (after the states listed in #5)   Key West, UK, Prague, Barcelona, Greece, Nantucket, Fiji Islands, Australia and New Zealand.

and I hope to get to Colorado before this year is up.   I want to see my grandma.  This is quite doable and I think I will start emailing my cousins to pick a when and where…

hey!  how did I end up with 9?  oh well.

Insight Into My Heart Meme

August 4, 2008

I first titled this Music that Makes You Cry Meme, but then I read Joan’s post and it was so spot ON and lovingly right…    She got it from Wendy who was tagged by Little Miss and together they conversed it into a meme with this appropriate title.   I had actually written this before reading Little Miss’s post so I felt I need to give proper credit and respect to the orginator.   ALSO, Little Miss is DOING Project RUNWAY reviews! SO a happy Shout Out to her!!)

Now, I realize that only a few of my regular readers are die hard country music fans but I don’t apologize for my love of this music.  You’ll just have to put up with me!    I was so touched by the great songs of the bloggers mentioned above;  I have a few that instantly come to mind.     And surprisingly, or not, two of my favorite heartstring pullers are hits by Kathy Mattea.      The first I’ll only tell you about and I hope to include in another post, another time.   (I don’t want to take too much of your time today.)   It’s title is Walking Away A Winner and it deserves a bit more explanation which I intend to tie in with “why I blog.”  later.

I dedicate this next one to Peter Parkour  (he’s a truck driver.)   So, Mr. Parkour, I don’t know if you care for this song or not or if it relates to your life but, I thought of you right after I thought of the song…

Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses

Charlie’s got a gold watch
Don’t seem like a whole lot
After thirty years of drivin’
Up and down the interstate
But Charlie’s had a good life
And Charlie’s got a good wife
And after tonight she’ll no longer be countin’ the days

CHORUS
Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses
Ten more miles on his four day run
A few more songs on the all night radio
And he’ll spend the rest if his life with the one that he loves

They’ll buy a Winnebago
Set out to find America
Do a lotta catchin’ up
A little at a time

With pieces of the old dream
They’re gonna light the old flame
Doin’ what they please
Leavin every other reason behind

I don’t know about insight into my heart, but I do cry everytime I hear this.  When I try to sing along, I don’t know if it’s the key or the lyrics or what exactly but I get all choked up.    The story is so touching.

What do YOU think?   what insights into my heart are you struck by?

I tag anyone who wants to play…

More Memes of Me

July 1, 2008

Tagged for some memes!  so fun…   However, my PC is fighting me today.    Here goes:

FIRST
The Google Image Meme.   I was tagged by Wearing Stilettos and Living on a Farm, click here to see her awesome collection of …. shoes!  NO, that’s a few days back – but still fun.   Click here for the meme.

I only made it to this shot.      Which is what popped up when I entered the number of how old young I will be on my next birthday.   It’s likely a random sequential number assigned to the title of the pic and not anything really to do with how many years I have traveled around the sun.   “A Woman Who Will Tell Her Age Will Tell Anything.”   I’ve never quite understood that quote.  So what?

The pic represents my mood today, though.   I’m mad at my computer.  ARRRRgggghhHHHH.

SECOND
The Love of Your Life Meme. aka THE HOT SEAT.  I wasn’t specifically tagged, but JavaQueen played and invited anyone and all.  HOWEVER.   If I’m still fighting the slowness and uncooperative nature of this electronic beast, I won’t be adding all those links.   Sorry for the loss of link love.   I will try to visit them all tho, just to be nice?

Are you deeply in love with your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend? If you are, let’s try how well you remember the moments of your life with him. But before you put yourself in the hot seat please read the rules of this tag first.

1. This tag should be passed on to your friends.
2. Visit the blog of the person you’ve got this tag.
3. Leave a comment on her/his tag post. Be sure to thank her/him for this tag.
4. Highlight and link all the list of people who accepted this tag by visiting their blog site.
5. There are 10 questions that you need to answer but you will be the one to write the 10th question for the next person you want to pass this tag. Here are the questions. Be honest with your answers.

Let’s Start:

1. How did you meet your husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend?
I met my Hub in a class in college.  We had the same major.

2. Where did you go on your first date?
Our first date was a dinner at his house.  He had two friends, one being his roommate, who were treating the girlfriends to a lovely spaghetti dinner.   Since my Hub didn’t exactly have a girlfriend, he asked me.   In fact, I can remember clearly that he asked me with these words, “My roommate is having a dinner party and they are making me bring a date.   What are you doing Friday night?”

3. When was your first intimate kiss?
Define ‘intimate’.   Our very first kiss was later that night?   I drank a lot of red wine.  A lot.   Did I mention that I had a lot of wine that night?   But to answer the question with my thinking that this guy might be special, it was 2 days later.

4. How many girlfriends/boyfriends he/she had in the past? Do you honestly know?
I honestly don’t know.  or care.     He was my first “true” boyfriend.

5. What is his/her ethnicity?
Both of us are of German heritage.

6. What is his/her favorite food?
I’m at a loss.    We love food.   Love all of it.   Nothing comes top of mind as a ‘favorite.’   If I start listing, it could get long.

7. What is he/she like if he/she is mad?
I can give the very same answer JavaQueen gave!   “He gets an “irritated look” about him. He doesn’t say much, and when I ask what’s the matter, he starts to bitch about it. He is RARELY moody, so I allow him his moments…”

8. What are the things he/she did you thought is the most romantic thing he’d/she’d ever done?
My man is amazingly sensitive and charming.    We hadn’t been dating very long (3 weeks maybe?) when he sent me a poem/present through some crazy college Greek fundraiser where they would deliver a gift for Halloween.   His poem said, “Pumpkins are orange, cats are black.  At Halloween, strange things are known to attract.”   I as smitten, let me tell you!

9. Describe how he/you proposed to you.
I’d rather not.   Let me just say that I’ve never told my mother.  Of course, if I can’t tell it on an anonymous blog, who can I tell?   and that’s what is so weird about the silly “blug” (as the Hub calls it.)  I feel like you guys KNOW me and I don’t want to appear strange!    Ok, we had just had a very lovely intimate moment (we were naked) when he exclaimed without really thinking about it, “will you marry me?!?!?!”  and I giggled in joy, “oh yes!!!!”     It was 8 weeks to the day after that spaghetti dinner.    We married one year later and we’ve been hitched almost 20 years. (It’s amazing how easy it is to deflect that question at innocent social gatherings…)

10. What has been the biggest surprise about your signifigant other since you’ve been together?

We now live in our 7th house and this is the first one he’s given a rat’s ass about how the lawn looks.  WTF?   What. ever.   But to be serious and mushy, he promised me over 20 years ago: NEVER A DULL MOMENT, and it’s been an awesome loving ride. It’s our theme slogan. Oh, and that scene with Demi Moore where she is a blonde – can’t remember the name of the movie… where she talks about love and falling stars and how your lover/spouse is… “YOUR SPLIT-APART BACK TOGETHER AGAIN.” That describes us, too.

Me in Six

June 25, 2008

Yippee!  I’ve been tagged for a meme.   Not just any meme – that extremely difficult SIX WORD meme that has been going around.    Thanks Annie aka Writer Chick (click here for her wonderful blog and her meme post.)

This one is difficult.   I’ve done it once already but it was awhile ago so I’m going to give my brain a chance to construct a new one, more relevant to this mid-2008 time in my life…    Here we go – by the way, I consider myself extremely well-skilled at brainstorming.

Loving Life But Scared to Live

Why Must I Always Add ‘But…”   ?

Life is Grand, My Miniscule World

Caring and Committed, Courageous and Consistent  (the first line to an affirmation I wrote 10 years ago!)

Yea, But…  I Always Have Excuses

Easy Choice Generation, Difficult to Choose

Can’t Make It, Sure Can Spend!

Hanging Around, Enjoying Life, Waiting, Watching.

Lots To-Do, No Motivation to Start.   (I cheated and made “to do” one word?!)

All I do:  Blog, Read, Laundry  (not really, I could keep adding a ton more words.   Hey, maybe I do more than I think.   figures…)

Great Ideas!  So Why Not Jump?

Ah, I see a negative attitude pattern.   Looks to me like I need to challenge myself to think a little more positively, to dare to reach out and DO something.    SO.   That said, this post about to be published, I’m off to start my day.   I have to do a little dog maintenance, a little self-beauty maintenancy (you know, get presentable) and then visit the Rehab Hospital.   I also have to pick up dog food, take Oscar for a few hours of playing with his friends, and buy vitamins.    I also have my English-Improvement Tutoring late this afternoon which I’m enjoying quite a bit.     I suppose I should develop a few more hand outs for my Elderly Computer Training Course which is first thing Thursday and work up a questionaire for the dude who wants to hire me.  (ugh)     I also want to investigate Firefox more and actually attempt the download.    and, of course, I have blogs to visit, my other blog to post on/at, those blog buds to vist, and pay bills.    So let’s attempt a twist to that last Six Word Meme Result:

Great Ideas and I’m Jumping NOW.

XOXO,  CuriousC

Random Meme from Hallie

June 15, 2008

I was tagged by the Brilliant Hallie for this meme.

1. What were you doing five years ago?

Five years ago would have been June of 2003.  I was living in Kansas City and my husband would be doing well but not great at his remodeling business.    The only reason I say ‘not great’ is that in order to consider himself doing ‘great’, he would be needing to put more away into the 401k –> ie, the(my?!) retirement fund, etc. and we were just ‘making it’.    This makes me laugh now because I’m not sure where the money was going since our mortgage was a LOT less there than here in Mass and we had a bigger house.   So strange, isn’t it?   What you believe CAN influence your reality.   Just reading that sentence makes me laugh a little in one of those ‘I shouldn’t be laughing’ kind of ways.  I do that a lot.   Laugh inappropriately…   Anyway, where was I?    Five years ago.  I was managing data streams for a restaurant company and my boss was someone I respected a lot but also thought was really missing out on one part of life (having ANY fun.)    A great example of unbalance and/or you can never really know about some people.   Then again, judging is bad.   This concludes the lesson.

2. What are five things on your to-do list today?

  1. Do something with the hamburger that has been in the freezer awhile.*
  2. Balance the chemicals in the hot tub.
  3. Read; finish one book and continue in another.
  4. Blog some.
  5. Grocery shopping & laundry.

3. What snacks do you enjoy?

Hub is actually attempting the weightloss goal by spending a ton of cash on Nutrisystem.   I LOVE their chocolate peanut butter bars and the white cheddar chip things.   But I also love onion rings, chips and guacamole, spinach/artichoke dip, ice cream;  most anything called ‘snack’, really.   I love food.    Stacy’s Pita chips are the very best of that category.   My favorite candy bar is the $100,000 bar and I love DOVE dark chocolate.    When I go to the movies, I must have buttered popcorn – it’s just a part of my movie-going experience.

4. Things you would do if you were a billionaire.

Invest a third for me, invest a third in others, spend a third on a big boat, build a front porch onto my Colonial house – oh crap, forget that! – I would sell this and buy a lake home, learn to fly my own plane and buy a pair of dark purple cowboy boots in some exotic leather.

5. Three of your bad habits.

  1. Self doubt and self-pity (can that be one or should it be two?)
  2. Drinking a bit too much alcohol a little too often.
  3. I bum cigarettes cuz so many of my friends smoke but I don’t often think about smoking when I’m by myself so I rarely buy or have cigs of my own.  Yes, I know it’s a bad habit.   It’s a social thing.

6. Five places you have lived.

I have lived in many towns in Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, two in Nebraska, a summer in Washington DC and short stint near DC close to Dulles Airport, besides where I live now:

  1. Massachusetts
  2. Virginia
  3. Missouri
  4. Nebraska
  5. Illinois

7. Five jobs that you’ve had?

No particular order:

  1. Hostess at Red Lobster
  2. Learning Skills Instructor
  3. Computer Programmer
  4. Vocational Education Program Coordinator
  5. Realtor

8. How did you name your blog?

A long time ago when I purchased a website address of my name – I thought it would be cool to learn web design and have my own personal website, (I never really got around to learning much more than the very basics) and I also bought ideajump.com  because I liked the vague-ness yet positiveness of how these two words sounded together.   And it was available, it was short, most people know how to spell idea and jump, and so I put down the $6…   I was toying with the idea of being a lifecoach at that point in my life, too, and thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a place to park such a business if it took off.    Once I discovered this blogging thing, I decided to jump into it and thought Idea Jump would be a good title.   I don’t know why I didn’t call my id ‘ideajump’ to keep it seamless; somehow I ended up with ‘curiousC’.    I don’t think much thought went into that at all.

I am simmering some Hamburger Stew right now:   1# hamburger, potatoes, carrots, green beans, 2 cans tomato sauce…    Will serve with Cuban Bread – a good thick hearty white bread.

The Curious Cairn

May 14, 2008

David, over at Thoughts-0-Dave, frequently blogs about a cairn that marks his cycling route.    I suggested we ‘meme’ this…  and seeing how it was sort of my idea, I decided I best jump right to it.

According to Wikipedia, a cairn is an artificial pile of stones and many cultures over many centuries have interesting piles of stone erected for many reasons.  I didn’t have a reason for mine other than it sounded like a fun thing to do.   With eleven (some admittedly flat) rocks stacked upon a base of a chopped-down pine tree, I present to you
The Curious Cairn:

A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

“To come to the party at all you have to have the agreement of these guys.” (quote by some guy named Paul Cairns)

Which inspires me to include this quote, as well:

I think the rock’n’roll myth of living on the edge is a pile of crap. – Robert Smith
